When you activate Trend Micro apps on your mobile device, you will receive an email confirming that a new device is protected. The email includes the device name registered under your Trend Micro Account.
Important to Know
- Trend Micro uses the default device name from your mobile device at the time of activation.
- If you have never changed your device name, the one shown in the email is usually:
- A manufacturerās default name (e.g., Galaxy S21, iPhone 17 Pro Max).
- In some cases, your deviceās model number (e.g., GLBW0 for certain Google Pixel 10 units).
- If you manually rename your device in your phoneās settings, Trend Micro will use your custom name instead.
How to Check Your Mobile Device Name
If you are unsure whether the device listed in your Trend Micro subscription is yours, follow the steps below based on your device type.
For Android Devices
- Open Settings on your Android device.
- Scroll down and tap About phone or About device (wording may vary depending on brand/model).
- Look for Device Name.
- This is the name Trend Micro uses when registering your device.
- On many Android devices, this name is actually the device model name. If it shows a model number (like GLBW0), itās still referring to your phone.
- To confirm your model number and match it with your phone:
- In About phone, look for Model number or Model name.
- Compare this to the information shown on the box your phone came in, or check the manufacturerās website/documentation for your phone model.
- Compare the device name or model number with the one shown in your Trend Micro email.
For iOS (iPhone/iPad) Devices
- Open Settings on your iOS device.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Look for Name at the very top ā this is your deviceās registered name.
- Compare this name with what appears in your Trend Micro notification email.
If the Device Name is Not Familiar
- Check all devices linked to your subscription to make sure you recognize every name/model number.
- If you find a device you donāt recognize:
- Sign in to your Trend Micro Account at account.trendmicro.com.
- Review your list of protected devices.
- Remove any unknown device to ensure your subscription is secure.
Security Tip
Some Android models display codes or short alphanumeric names by default, which can look unfamiliar. Always confirm the name or model number through your deviceās About phone settings before assuming itās not yours.
