You see this notification pop up from the Trend Micro Home Network Security app when you are using a ZTE ZXDSL 831CII router for your home network:
"Authorized Configuration Access"
Why did this happen?
A recent backdoor access vulnerability was discovered in some routers shipped by the company Telesquare. A malicious user can use a default telnet account to get unauthorized access to vulnerable devices.
What are its risks?
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could have an opportunity to modify router PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) configurations which could lead to disrupt network/network issues.
What should I do next?
Make sure you have the most recent patch or firmware update from your router’s website. Show me how.
