You may see this error message when trying to install Trend Micro on your Windows computer:
"Installation Stopped. Switch to a computer with more memory."
Don't worry — this usually means your computer is running low on available memory (RAM). Let's fix it.
Why Does This Happen?
Trend Micro Security requires at least 1 GB of RAM to install. This error appears when your computer doesn't have enough free memory at the time of installation. This can happen even if your PC has 1 GB or more of total RAM — other running programs may be using it up.

What You Can Do
Try these steps in order. After each one, try installing Trend Micro again.
Step 1: Close unnecessary programs
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard, then click Task Manager.
- Under the Processes tab, look for apps using a lot of memory.
- Select any programs you don't need right now and click End Task.
- Try the installation again.
Step 2: Restart your computer
- Click Start > Power > Restart.
- Once your computer restarts, try installing Trend Micro right away — before opening other programs.
Step 3: Check your total RAM
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > About.
- Look for Installed RAM under Device specifications.
If your computer has less than 1 GB of RAM, you'll need to add more memory before you can install Trend Micro.
🔔 Important Note: If your PC has 1 GB or more of RAM but you still see this error after trying Steps 1 and 2, there may be a background process using too much memory. Try booting in Safe Mode and running the installer from there.
