If your Trend Micro VPN keeps showing the sign-in page over and over on your Mac, don’t worry. This usually happens when old app data is still on your device. Follow these easy steps to remove the leftover files and get your VPN working again.

Why This Happens?

The sign-in page may loop if there are leftover files from a previous Trend Micro VPN installation. Removing the app alone doesn't always delete this hidden data.

What Should I Do Next?

Follow these steps to solve the issue and get your Trend Micro VPN working again on your Mac:

  1. Uninstall Trend Micro VPN
    • Click the Go menu, then Applications.
    • Find Trend Micro VPN and drag it to the Trash.
  2. Remove Leftover Files Using Terminal
    • Press Command (⌘) + Space to open Spotlight Search.
    • Type Terminal, then press Return.
    • In the Terminal window, enter the following commands one at a time. Press Return after each line:
      • sudo rm -r ~/Library/Containers/com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP*
      • sudo rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Scripts/com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP*
      • sudo rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP*
      • sudo rm -r ~/Library/Group\ Containers/6QRF79J2W6.com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP*
      • sudo rm -r ~/Library/Preferences/com.trendmicro.MAC.TMPWP*
      • sudo rm -r ~/Library/Preferences/group.com.trendmicro.mac.autosignin.pwp.plist

Note: When prompted, type your Mac admin password and press Return. You won’t see the characters as you type—this is normal.

  3. Delete the VPN Configuration
    • Open System Settings > Network.
    • Select the VPN profile.
    • Click the small “i” icon beside the VPN name.
    • Click Remove Configuration, then confirm by clicking Remove.
  4. Reinstall Trend Micro VPN
  5. Now that your system is clean, reinstall the app.
