Trend Micro Security scans file right after you download them. You do not see this message from Trend Micro Security whenever you download a file.

"No threats found in ---."

This pop up also includes random letters, numbers and characters.

Why did this happen?

Some Trend Micro components may have stopped working after installing a new program or a Windows update.

What should I do next?

  1. Check Trend Micro program settings.
    1. Open Trend Micro main console.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. In Security & Tuneup Controls, make sure the box next to "Scan for threats when opening, saving, or downloading suspicious files" is checked.
  2. Restart the Trend Micro program.
    1. Press the Windows ⊞ and R keys on your keyboard to open the Run window.
    2. In the Open field, type supporttool.exe, then click OK.
    3. Click Yes when the User Account Control Window appears.

      The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit will open.

    4. Click the (C) Uninstall tab.
    5. Click 5. Stop all components.
    6. Wait for 10-30 seconds or the Trend Micro icon Trend Micro icon in the taskbar notification area to disappear.
    7. Click 4. Start all components to turn it back ON.
    8. Try to download the file again. If issue persists, follow the next step.
  3. Use Trend Micro Permission Tool.
  4. Download the file again and see if the "No threats found" pop-up appears.
