You see this warning message while browsing on the Internet on your Mac:

"The camera on this Mac has been turned on"

Why is this happening?

FaceTime HD a built-in camera app for Mac is running in the background and is not shown in the approved apps.

What should I do next?

Force Quit the camera apps you do not use:

  1. Open Activity Monitor.
  2. Select FaceTime HD Camera and its similar apps, like:
    • FaceTime
    • Photo Booth
    • Skype
  3. Click the Stop button you in the upper-left corner of the Activity Monitor window.
  4. Choose Force Quit.
