You can disable any of these features at any time to prevent the corresponding data from being sent to Trend Micro.

Contacts

DESCRIPTION

Trend Micro ScamCheck only imports contacts; no other action done for these data.
DATA COLLECTED

In Android, Trend Micro ScamCheck imports contacts of user's device.

  • Name
  • Telephone Number

Because the SMS Filter is used only to analyze unknown sender information, this data is used to allow Trend Micro ScamCheck to distinguish whether it is a contact information.

SMS Filter

DESCRIPTION

SMS Filter (including Smart Filter and Keyword Filter) is a feature that helps users block spam, scam, or unwanted messages. It includes the following functions:

Trend Micro ScamCheck scans SMS/MMS message sent by unknown senders. If a message includes suspicious links, spam content, scam content, an unwanted keyword, or originates from an unwanted sender ID, it will be moved to the Junk Folder in Messages.
DATA COLLECTED

For SMS Filter, when a user receives a new message from an unknown sender, Trend Micro ScamCheck will scan and store the:

  • SMS/MMS content (which may include personal and sensitive personal data, URL, phone number, etc)
  • Sender ID (email address or phone number)

The data will be used to enhance the spam and scam message detection. The collected data is deleted after 6 months.

DESCRIPTION

In Android, Notification Scan detects malicious links in notification contents.

  • URL in notification / package names

Notification content containing a URL will be sent to the backend; notification content will not be stored locally.

Scam Alert

DESCRIPTION

For premium licenses that include the Scam Alert feature, the phone number of an outbound call will be analyzed, and users will be notified of the detection result. The result may be safe, a scam, or a spam call.

Phone number. The collected data is deleted after 6 months.

Scam Check

DESCRIPTION

Scam Check allows users to manually input any text data, URL, email address, phone number, or upload image to check if the data content is fraud/spam or not.

This feature uses AI to analyze the submitted information and notifies users of the the detection result.

The content may be identified as safe, fraudulent, spam, or fake news.

  • Text (from IM message, email, SMS, etc)
  • Image (user will choose from default Photo app)

The collected data is deleted after 6 months.

This data is manually entered by users. Data will only be received when a user chooses to submit it for detection.

Deepfake Inspector

DESCRIPTION

If Deepfake Inspector detects that "the person you're talking to may be a fake face", but you are sure it is a real person, you can report this to us.
DATA COLLECTED

A still image of the flagged face is collected when you submit this feedback. It is captured automatically on-device - not uploaded from your library, and no personal data is entered.

The image may be used to train and improve our deepfake detection AI model.

The collected data is deleted after 3 months.

App Scan

DESCRIPTION
