You may notice your laptop battery drains faster than usual after upgrading to macOS Monterey.
You might also see this message:
"*App* quit unexpectedly."
Why did this happen?
The new macOS Monterey works in the background to set itself up fully.
What should I do next?
- Check apps that use too much energy:
- From the system tray, click the Battery icon.
- Under Using Significant Energy, check the applications that excessively consumes the battery life.
- Limit app use with Screen Time:
Screen Time helps you set time limits to apps, monitor app us and schedule app downtime:
- Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Screen Time.
- On the lower-left corner, click Options, then click Turn On.
- Reset System Management Controller:
Resetting the System Management Controller or SMC fixes battery issues. Doing this will not remove any data you saved on your Mac.
- Reset NVRAM/PRAM:
NVRAM, or non-volatile random access memory, is a small amount of memory your Mac uses to store certain settings and access them quickly. PRAM, or Parameter RAM, stores similar information.
Resetting NVRAM/PRAM solve issues if the battery is at the wrong level. Doing this will not remove any data you saved on your Mac.
