After upgrading to macOS Big Sur, some hardware accessories no longer work after the upgrade. This issue affects accessories like printers, scanners, mouse, and keyboards as it seems they become incompatible with the new macOS.

This issue can be associated when macOS Big Sur OS stopped supporting 32-bit applications. Some hardware drivers of your hardware accessories are not updated to 64-bit.

Check with your hardware accessories manufacturer

You can consult with the manufacturer of your hardware accessories if they have a new driver or related app that is available and at the same time compatible with macOS Big Sur.

If there are new macOS Big Sur compatible drivers, you will need to install them so your hardware accessories will have access again to your macOS Big Sur.

Update your hardware drivers in the App Store
  1. At the top left corner of your screen, click the Apple icon in the menu bar. Select About This Mac.

  2. Click the Software Update button.

    Software Update

It will show you all available updates that you can download.

If there are no available downloads, it will tell you that it is up-to-date.
