You see this notification on the Trend Micro Home Network Security app:

"SambaCry Vulnerability"

Why did this happen?

A device vulnerable to a ransomware attack is detected in your network.

What are its risks?

  • It could execute arbitrary code and take control of the full system.
  • It can cause a SambaCry Ransomware attack that can encrypt your files, which may require you to pay the attacker in order to recover them.
  • It allows attackers to drop malicious files and execute code on your devices.

What should I do next?

  • Install the latest firmware version on your network device. Guide me how.
  • Disable the network file sharing service (SMB) if you are not using it.
  • Disconnect the vulnerable device from your network if you are not using it anymore.

What if I have more questions?
