Why Did This Happen?
The plugUtilEnum.dll component hangs during BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) jobs enumeration, causing the scan process to freeze at a fixed percentage.
How Do I Fix This?
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Update Trend Micro Program
- Right-click the Trend Micro icon in the taskbar notification area, then select Check for Program Updates. If you cannot see it, click the Show hidden icons arrow ^ next to the notification area.
- The About Your Software window will appear and check for available updates.
- Click Close after seeing Components are up-to-date.
- Run a Hotfix
- Before running the hotfix file, you need to temporarily pause Trend Micro so it doesn't interfere with the fix. Follow this guide to pause Trend Micro:

- Locate the downloaded file and look for the file named "Ti_1790_win_en_plugUtilEnum7.7.1113_hfb0001.exe" to run the installer.
- Double-click the file to open it.
- Accept the License Agreement and click the "Next" button.
- Click the "Install" button to begin the repair.
- A window may pop up asking for your permission. Click Yes to allow it.
- If another warning window opens, click OK.
- Restart your computer to apply the changes.
- Once your computer restarts, run a Quick Scan again to confirm the issue is resolved.
