Why did this happen?

  • The VPN needs a security approval to work properly, and that step may not have finished during setup.
  • The app may not have had enough permission on your computer to complete the installation.

What to do next

To fix this issue, you’ll need to reinstall Trend Micro VPN:

  1. Uninstall Trend Micro VPN – You’ll need to remove the current version from your computer. To do this, follow these steps.
    1. Click the Start button, then go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.
    2. From the list, choose Trend Micro VPN.
    3. Click Uninstall.
  2. Install Trend Micro VPN – Next, set up a fresh copy of the VPN so it works correctly. Follow these steps to install it.
    1. On your Windows computer, click the link below:
      Download Trend Micro VPN on Windows
    2. Click Download to get the installer.
    3. Open the downloaded file from your downloads folder and Click Install.
    4. Once installed, open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
    5. NOTE: Trend Micro VPN is NOT compatible with ARM-based computers.

  3. Activate Trend Micro VPN – Finally, sign in and activate your VPN to make sure it’s ready for use. Follow these steps to complete activation.
    1. Open the Trend Micro VPN app.
    2. Click Sign In beside 'Already have a license?'.
    3. Enter your Trend Micro account details and click Sign in.
    4. Select Yes to use the available subscription.
    5. Choose Use this seat beside 'Unused' and click Allow.
