If Trend Micro opens but you don’t see the Scan button, or it looks like the program didn’t finish loading, don’t worry — this usually means the installation didn’t go through properly.

Why did this happen?

  • The Trend Micro program didn’t finish installing completely.
  • Some parts of the program didn’t start correctly when you turned on your computer.

What should I do next?

You need to restart your Trend Micro. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Press the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard at the same time.
  2. Type supporttool.exe, then click OK.
  3. If a window pops up asking for permission, click Yes.
  4. In the new window, click the (C) Uninstall tab.
  5. Click 5. Stop all components and wait for about 10–30 seconds until the Trend Micro icon disappears from your screen.
  6. Then click 4. Start all components to turn it back on.
  7. Open Trend Micro again and check if the Scan button is now showing.

Still having the same issue?

If restarting Trend Micro doesn’t fix the issue, proceed with reinstalling it. Follow these steps:

  1. Press Windows + R, type supporttool.exe, and click OK.
  2. Click Yes when asked.
  3. Click the (C) Uninstall tab, then choose 1. Uninstall Software.
  4. Follow the steps until your computer restarts.
  5. Go to https://account.trendmicro.com/download and sign in.
  6. Download your Trend Micro installer again.
  7. Once it’s downloaded, right-click the file and choose Run as administrator.
  8. Follow the steps to finish installing.
