This error occurs because some files from your old Trend Micro Security installation are still on your computer.
What should I do next?
If you keep encountering the error code while activating Trend Micro Security, try reinstalling the program. Follow the steps below to do this:
STEP 1: Uninstall Trend Micro Security using the steps below.
- Press WINDOWS + R on your keyboard to open the 'Run' window.
- Type supporttool.exe and click OK.
- If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
- Select the (C) Uninstall tab, then click 1. Uninstall Software.
- Click Yes, and remember to copy your serial number/activation code for future reference.
- Check the box that says I copied my serial number, then click Uninstall.
- Click Yes to restart your computer and complete the uninstallation.
STEP 2: Remove any leftover files using the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool.
- Log onto your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
- Download the Remnant File Remover Tool HERE.
- Double-click Ti_1790_win_en_Tool_UninstallTool_hfb0002.exe to run it.
- Click I accept the terms of the license agreement, then click Next.
- Click Install.
- Click OK.
- Restart your computer.
STEP 3: Reinstall Trend Micro Security to complete the activation process.
