Why did this happen?
Trend Micro Home Network Security detected that a router connected to your network is using the default password (the password supplied by the device manufacturer).
What are its risks?
- Using a default router password makes your device vulnerable to attack. A router password isn't the same as a Wi-Fi password. The router password is needed to access the router settings, while the Wi-Fi password is needed to access the Internet.
- Many hackers use routers as an entry point to gain network access. Once they have router control, they can change the password, modify router settings, and even lock you out of your own network.
- Unauthorized network access can lead to more problems, including the loss of confidential information, child digital safety issues, and other concerns.
