Trend Micro would like to inform customers and the general public about a supposed email coming from Trend Micro Support luring users to open a malicious attachment in word format.
Why is it fake?
- Trend Micro Support does not proactively send files to our customers through email
- If you received an email with a file attachment that appears that we sent, do not open, run or execute the attached file and discard it.
Can my Trend Micro program detect it?
Trend Micro Maximum Security, Internet Security and/or Antivirus+ Security detects this type of malicious file/program with the following details:
- File Name: Trend Micro Customer Satisfaction Survey.doc
- Detection Name: Trojan.W97M.EMOTET.XXXX
